Overview

Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War. We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history. From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

What To Expect

Salem Black Cat Tours

Your guide will meet you at the Axelrod Walkway park at 28 Charter Street, next to the Peabody Essex Museum, located across the street from the Witchcraft Trials Memorial and Old Burying Point Cemetery Welcome Center.

We really enjoyed this tour, and thought our your guide did an excellent job. The history and stories were interesting. The only thing we would have changed is the amount of people in the tour, it was a big group.

Thank you very much for your review! We are glad you had a good time on your tour, though we apologize for the larger size. While we do have large groups in October, we cap them at a somewhat smaller size than many of the companies here in Salem in an attempt to provide you with the best experience possible in the crowded city. This was our first time doing a Salem night tour and Daniel did not let us down! They do an amazing job at blending interesting historical facts and knowledge of Salem past and present with great hauntings in the places we visited. My 5 year old came with us in a stroller and she enjoyed his stories and loved the different buildings too. The tour group was smaller compared to some of the others - which was really nice because it wasn't as crowded and was more personal and gave us plenty of time to spend at the places and ask questions - especially since we went before the height of the Halloween season. A lot of the places you'll visit have interesting stories behind them and have been inspiration for a lot of different things - such as the game Clue, Edgar Allen Poe, HP Lovecraft, Hocus Pocus, Bewitched, and much more! Whether you're into the paranormal or not, this tour had great storytelling that captures the essence of Salem's history. If you are into the paranormal, the stories they tells will send shivers up your spine :)

I took my Venturers (Part of the Boy Scouts(14-20 year old coeds)) to Salem and we did both the day and evening tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and fun. He had a great sense of humor and used that humor to pass along all the information. My Venturers learned a lot and a had a great time. If going to Salem you must do at least one of these two tours, if not both
