Black Cat Historical Day Tour

Overview
Our daytime historic tour is a story of Pirates and Puritans, Witchcraft and War.  We travel around the city of Salem and share the tales of its amazing history.  From its humble beginnings as a city founded on the idea of peace for all, to the site of the largest incident of witchcraft hysteria in the modern world, learn how it became one of the biggest shipping ports in America, played host to some of the most famous authors of all time, and learn some of the biggest secrets this city has to offer!

Our daytime walking tour lasts about an hour and forty five minutes, and covers a mile's worth of the downtown area. It is an easy walk, but we suggest comfortable shoes and clothing to match the season. Our tours are unscripted, and can be customized to every group's particular areas of interest!

I went last night on the ghost tour with Dan! He was amazing! He was super personable making everyone feel comfortable. He was both knowledgeable but also extremely respectful of the history and the historic sites themselves. Multiple times explaining that certain areas were residential and he didn't want to disturb the residents. He also made it a point to make sure that gates that were supposed to be closed and locked were. Even going so far as to say he would have to make sure to contact the city to make sure a gate got locked. As a history major I was so pleased to see his dedication to preserving the history of this town! Will definitely be going back for the historical tour that they have!

While several large tour groups of 30 plus passed us by we had a small tour group with Black Cat Tours. We had a very knowledgeable tour guide named Daniel who took us around Salem and combined the history of Salem with ghostly tales. He was able to answer all of our questions. We really enjoyed the tour thanks to Daniel. I would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to fully experience the history and character of Salem.

What a wonderful time! I had the pleasure of touring with Daniel, who offered a fun story-filled tour of Salem's history and culture. He was exceptionally engaging and informative, all the while keeping the entire atmosphere conversational, answering questions, telling stories with a sense of humor, mystery and fun. I've been on a lot of tours and what really struck me was the level of fun, knowledge and pride he took in the history of the city and the people who called it home. Definitely a must see when you find yourself in Salem!
