Overview

Amelia Island is full of rich history, and is the only location in America to have flown 8 independent flags. It’s rich history takes us on a journey through time including the Timucuan Indians who were our first inhabitants as far back as 2000 BC. The flags tell the story of religious struggle and persecution, the effect of Christianity disallowing any other God to be worshiped. The devastating impact of the Revolutionary war on the island and rebels acting in the name of higher power. Smugglers, slave traders and pirates have all had a part to play in the evolution of this Islands growth. This fascinating tour will take you on a journey through time and show you how such a small barrier island has had a major and little know impact on the history of America. What To Expect

Amelia Island

The eight flags tour takes you on a historical journey through all of the locations that those flags have flown over the islands incredible history. The only location in America to have had this number of independent flags. You will travel through the historic downtown district and out to the original Fernandina. On our journey we will cover each of the flags, the period from which they flew and the historical significance behind all of those dates from a historical perspective.

The beautiful architecture of the historic homes that our guide Daniel showed us. Daniel was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. You can tell how much he loves the town and the rich history. He genuinely seems to love what he does and seems to do a lot of research. Definitely recommend for history buffs or anyone who loves the area.

All we can say is Daniel Daly should get the Academy award for the being the most knowledgeable, engaging, funny and captivating tour guide!! It was truly a pleasure having him as our guide. The eight flags tour was exceptional. The best we have ever had thanks to Mr. Daniel Daly. His extensive knowledge of all the activity taking place under each flag and tying it all together into a neat history package was priceless. All the religious issues, international country conflicts and above all the cast of characters, POLITICAL and those ENTERPERNEURS that were out for themselves. Some of this taking place prior to PLYMPOUTH ROCK. Then when my wife and I took a personal walking tour down the same streets we appreciated what we were seeing that much more.
