Overview
Amelia Island is full of rich history, and is the only location in America to have flown 8 independent flags. It’s rich history takes us on a journey through time including the Timucuan Indians who were our first inhabitants as far back as 2000 BC. The flags tell the story of religious struggle and persecution, the effect of Christianity disallowing any other God to be worshiped. The devastating impact of the Revolutionary war on the island and rebels acting in the name of higher power. Smugglers, slave traders and pirates have all had a part to play in the evolution of this Islands growth. This fascinating tour will take you on a journey through time and show you how such a small barrier island has had a major and little know impact on the history of America. Come and join us on a incredible passage through hundreds of years of incredible historical facts.

What an incredible way to start our first visit to Amelia Island! By land covered, it's a relatively short tour. By what we learned, we overflowed with fun and impactful facts as Dan is the consummate host and story-teller! From the home of the first pouring of Coca-Cola products to the infamy of masterful con Gregor MacGregor, we enjoyed every moment of our tour. Dan went above and beyond to ensure that we were happily entertained and cared for.

Thank you for your 5 star review. The Islands history is truly amazing in every aspect of the 8 Flags that have flown over this tiny but beautiful Island. If you need any reference to materials that might take your understanding to another level feel free to email me at [email protected] and for the attention of Daniel. I would be very happy to send you a reading list to get you started. DANGER it goes on for ever, but a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend those quite moments. Regards Daniel
