Eight Flags Road Tour

Overview
Amelia Island is full of rich history, and is the only location in America to have flown 8 independent flags. It’s rich history takes us on a journey through time including the Timucuan Indians who were our first inhabitants as far back as 2000 BC. The flags tell the story of religious struggle and persecution, the effect of Christianity disallowing any other God to be worshiped. The devastating impact of the Revolutionary war on the island and rebels acting in the name of higher power. Smugglers, slave traders and pirates have all had a part to play in the evolution of this Islands growth. This fascinating tour will take you on a journey through time and show you how such a small barrier island has had a major and little know impact on the history of America. Come and join us on a incredible passage through hundreds of years of incredible historical facts.

Last year we'd done the other tour of Fernandina Beach with the trolley that is parked by the docks. That one was ok but this year we did Amelia Island Historic Tours - a new service - and it was exponentially better. Daniel Daly was the driver for our tour in a very comfortable van. His knowledge of the area, both historical and geographic, was excellent. The tour is easy to find - just behind the Hampton Inn at the public parking lot in the historic section of Fernandina Beach. Well worth every cent.

Dan was super knowledgeable. He gave us great insight & took us to places that most tourists would never see. If you’re looking for a detailed tour of historic buildings, this would not be the tour for you. But if you want to know the history of the area, you will be most pleased. Van was comfortable. No walking. Only slight negative was that it lasted a bit longer than anticipated.
