The hike is along the Canyon Rim, through the forest out to Ribbon Lake, and then past a geyser basin, Clear Lake, and the Wapiti Meadows with big views of the Hayden Valley. I was going to be near Yellowstone on my own for two days and knew I wanted to explore but was not comfortable hiking on my own in an unfamiliar area. I signed up for the Lone Star Gyser hike and is was fabulous! Emily was a wonderful guide who set a nice pace and shared her in-depth knowledge of the forest with the group. Would definitely do another hike with this company if I am ever back in the area!

I scheduled and paid for this hike for the 10th of July. I got to the meeting place and no one was there. So, I went down to the otgher trailhead where I found the group. The guide told me I was not on the list so I would not have any good. I choose to take this hike anyway. I was absolutely appalled at the unfriendly, uncaring, and rude behavior of the other hikers. Not one single hello, where are you from nothing. Not one word from anyone for the entire hike. And the kicker was that I was left behind at one point to where I was out there all alone in the Lamar valley where there are wild animals everywhere. I will never Ever do this again with a group. Horrible experience. People are just terrible in this day and age.

Hello! You were signed up for July 16 and you showed up for your trip on July 9. The normal trailhead was under construction, so we alerted the people signed up for that day about the trailhead change. We did accommodate you even though you were not signed up for that day. I checked with my guide and he said he never left you behind. At one point he sent the group forward, at the end of the trip, and stayed behind with you. We are very sorry you had such a bad experience and we wish you well on future travels.

We reserved a private Lamar River Valley Hike for our extended family. BLUF. This was a fantastic hike and our tour guide Zack was awesome! Zack was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the valley, and the park history. He was patient with our kids' endless questions and always provided thoughtful responses. We saw hundreds of bison, dozens of pronghorn, sand hill cranes, ducks, Uninta ground squirrels, and a vast array of wildflowers. We got up close and personal (safely) with much of the wildlife. The bison were incredibly active! Not to be outdone a thunderstorm rushed in on our way back. We all made it back safely and were still sharing stories and pictures hours after! This hike is a must... and if you can, get Zack as your guide... all the better!
