What To Expect
1
Kenai Fjords National Park
In Kenai Fjords National Park, over half of the landmass is covered by the enormous Harding Icefield, a thousand-foot block of ice that dates back to the last Ice Age. The Harding spills out in all directions in the form of glaciers. Some stretch northwest into rugged hills of the Kenai Peninsula. Others—five of them, to be exact—reach as far as the sea along the craggy coast of the Gulf of Alaska.

Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge
Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge is comprised of 2,400 islands, headlands, rocks, islets, spires and reefs and is known for its abundance of seabirds.

The tour was very good, though we had a very foggy and rainy day. The captain did her best to get us a decent shot at viewing the wildlife in the area, and got us close to one of the glaciers. Lunch was pretty basic, chicken wrap, but it did the trick on a long boat ride. I'd suggest bringing along some of your own snacks & drinks, especially if you are traveling with children.

We saw all sorts of wildlife, including humpback whales! Our captain was great at spotting it and provided all sorts of interesting facts. The scenery was breathtaking. Specially the close up to Holgate Glacier. Boat was comfortable. You just need to understand that due to weather it might not be a smooth ride but it was absolutely manageable. The crew does a fantastic job at making sure anyone not feeling well is taken care of. To be honest the scenery is so amazing we did not mind enduring some rain and wind on the outside deck. But there is enough room for everyone inside so you can come back in for a break at any time. You could stay inside the whole time... I just don't see anyone wanting to do that though.

Went as part of the Royal Caribbean land tour. Roughly 1/4 of our party left the boat when the captain mentioned the possible 17 foot waves. Provided you are sensible you will be OK and you will be rewarded with some amazing views - the aialik glacier were awesome - and some amazing wildlife sightings particularly of whales . Yes we took the sea sickness tablets on the recommendation of the crew but I'm not sure they were needed . Sit quietly downstairs in the middle of the boat during the rough seas element. Only venture outside when there is something to see. Felt so good I enjoyed the chicken wrap once I was sure I was OK and loved the warm chocolate chip cookies. Most of our tour group who did not go on the trip regretted their decision once they heard how amazing the trip had been.
