Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview

Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

What an amazing experience! We can’t say enough about our adventure. From our first contact with one of the co-owners who got us suited-up with with our wetsuits, to the two crew members that took us out on the boat, it was truly a breathtaking experience! We saw upwards of 10 Manta Rays. Our guides were very knowledgeable and we felt completely safe during our entire adventure, which was an important aspect for me personally, because I’m a worrywart of the worst kind! The small group setting was a plus as well! I would highly recommend this adventure to anyone who wants to observe these truly majestic creatures “VERY” close-up.

This is a must do while visiting the big island! Manta Magic staff was amazing and they do smaller groups which made it more fun and personable. The boat ride is short which is a great thing if you get any kind of sea/motion sickness. I highly recommend!

Thank you for the feedback, and for calling out the quick boat ride and personable nature of our small-group experiences. We think the more private and personable nature of our tours delivers a much better experience than the larger "cattle boats" in Kona, with 100 passengers or more. And the 5-minute boat ride is a better option for many travelers than the tours that run out of Honokohau Harbor and have a 25-minute boat ride to the manta ray viewing site. Mahalo
