Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Awesome trip, I highly recommend night snorkeling with Manta Rays with Hawaii Oceanic. We saw 5 manta rays swimming right beneath us and barrel rolling as they fed. An incredible experience you should not miss! I picked this tour as it's green listed and has small group sizes. Our crew was Captain Frank and Caleb, who were professional, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about Manta Rays. We had a small group of 10 people, plus the two crew members. Frank started us out with some information on the manta rays and snorkeling, then took us on the boat about 20 minutes out. Once we reached the snorkeling location, we spent about 45 minutes in the water. No wetsuit needed, but they had some at the dock we could use. We were lucky to be the only boat in the water! This is definitely bucket list worthy, and Hawaii Oceanic does a great tour.

It was great to see mantas up close. The staff was great and helpful. There were 2 parts of the tour. The snorkeling before sunset was not so great. It’s just to wait for dusk when mantas come. The second part where the manta came near us was amazing. I highly recommend this tour.

I've previously reviewed the dolphin experience with Hawaii Oceanic, and I can't decide which trip was more amazing. Mantas are such graceful and majestic animals, watching them glide through the water was pretty incredible. I've done a Manta Tour before not with this tour company and it didn't come close to the experience I had this trip. Our crew for this trip included Capt. Chad and Keoki, both excellent by the way. We were on the 4:30 trip which is the first trip out. Got to snorkel around while we waited for the sun to set. Even saw a manta during the day time. One of the women on the boat got a little sea sick and they were concerned and caring which I'm sure she appreciated. Bring towels! It gets cold on the way back to the harbor! I learned a lot about Mantas from Keoki on this trip, so not only was it fun but it was educational too! I want to mention that Hawaii Oceanic is a green company and I felt like they really cared about the environment and the impact we had coming into the habitat of the sea animals. Preservation and making sure the animals and the people on the trip were all safe was one of their main priorities which I very much appreciate. Like everyone else, I highly recommend this trip, and I would definitely do it again! Thanks for an awesome and unforgettable trip Capt. Chad, Keoki and Mantas!
