Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Awesome trip from start to finish. Captain Ali'iloa and Keoki were awesome and informative and passionate. It was great that their trips are on smaller ships limited to 12 participants instead of 3 times that with the other ships we saw. When we arrived at the bay, the big ships folks were stuck on their decks waiting to be deployed on their giant floating arms at sunset, Our wonderful crew let us snorkel the bay and see sunset while being in the water (a first for more an amazing). We even got up close and personal with a curious monk seal and saw a Manta before sunset. With a small group there is less chance of people who can't snorkel or flail around so we had amazing views of mantas with close by by bell roll overs and non-stop manta action the entire time. One came within inches of us. You are going to read this again and again and think its over the top, but it was the best thing I have ever done on any trip to any Hawaiian island and one of the most memorable experiences ever. Do note that you do need to be comfortable snorkeling and not afraid of the water since you will leave the boat in about 40 feet of water in the bay. There is no touching down and its an unapproachable shore so everything is based off the boat.

We went out on a night snorkel. Unfortunately, the weather was a bit rough and we didn't see any mantas while were in the water. By all accounts, this is really rare. However, the crew were amazing, especially our guide Aaron - what a dude! Aaron has so much energy and passion for the ocean and helping people understand the mantas, as well as other sea life and life in Hawaii. We were bummed that we didn't see any mantas that night. But, the crew was more than happy to book us in for another tour the following day, for no extra charge. The next day we went on the 4.30pm tour. What an incredible experience. Aaron was with us again and we saw the mantas, as well as having heaps of time to snorkel around and enjoy the other sea life out there. This was definitely the highlight of our 10 day Hawaii trip. It was not only the mantas that were great but the super relaxed crew on the boat that made the whole thing so friendly and enjoyable!! Thanks guys.

I went on the manta ray adventure on July 12, 2019. I was alone and the guides were trying to keep me company so I wasn't alone. They were very professional, nice, and seemed like they really cared that we got the best experience. In addition they shared some of the history of Hawaii, talked about the various farms, cats, etc. It was very enjoyable and I saw MANY manta rays up close and personal. Well worth the cost and the drive. I sent other friends there is August and I can't wait to hear what they thought. I am positive that I will hear nothing but good things.
