Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

The boat was a little late picking us up, but other than that the trip was one of the best times on the island. Dusty and Chad were great and kept us laughing the whole time. This is a once in a lifetime experience. If you’re reading this, you must do!

Absolutely great! I really can't say enough good things about Dusty and Chad (our guides). The boat and equipment were all in excellent shape, the Manta Rays were exactly "as advertised"; they were EVERYWHERE, and would swim right up to you! Our guides both were very well-versed and knowledgeable about the Rays as well as the local wildlife in general, and both seemed to genuinely care about providing a good experience. We took our 7 year old daughter on this excursion and she had the time of her life. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour!

Okay, so the night we went out the mantas didn't even come out - and I STILL had a great time! They said that happens about one time out of 100. We still had an amazing snorkel in the deep water, and we saw multiple spinner dolphins that swam right under us! Best of all, both of our guides were born-and-raised on the island and were so comfortable in the water, they made everyone feel really safe. We had a six year-old on board and they were super with the youngster too. Because we didn't see mantas, they offered us a second chance for free and said we could gift it to someone. We were able to give a free manta swim to a native Hawaiian woman we met during our stay who was a lovely host, and it was great to be able to invite her to experience the manta swim as she had never done it and had always wanted to!
