Manta Magic - Night Manta Ray Snorkel At Manta Village, Kona, Hawaii

Overview
Avoid the crowds of the other "cattle boats" in Kona, and enjoy a small-group manta ray snorkeling experience with a maximum of 12 passengers.

This tour departs from Keahou Harbor in South Kona and enjoys a short 5-minute boat ride to our snorkeling site, Manta Village.

Your Captain and snorkel guide will educate you on Kona's famous manta rays and will discuss our safe and humane approach to engaging with the gentle giants.

After entering the water, you'll hold onto our lightboard, with your feet propped up by floatation devices, as the manta rays perform a graceful ballet beneath you. The manta rays filter feed on plankton that naturally gathers at the surface just before sunset, then accumulates underneath our lights. This is an opportunity to enjoy an evening on the water and watch in amazement as the manta rays glide around and dance for you.

We are proud to be a Green Listed company, and we take an environmentally cautious approach to our interactions with the manta rays.

Goose bumps. Breathtaking. Is it expensive-yes. Is it worth it-also yes. I haven’t spoken to a soul on the island who regretted doing this. Practically everyone we met has either done it or thinking about doing it. My sister even met a volcanologist who has done it seven times. I get it. I’m also planning my next one. The crew was very helpful and kind. They have everything down to every detail. Short two minute boat ride out to the area and about 30 minutes in the water with these graceful, peaceful, shy, exquisite creatures. Will do it again. The very first moment one glides by is absolutely incredible. Please keep in mind these are wild animals. There is a $10000 fine for touching them and there are no guarantees that you will encounter one. They do frequent the bay as the lights from the hotel attract their food source. The longest time they have gone without seeing mantas is three weeks. You will more than likely encounter other small fishes and possibly larger fishes as well as the tiny plankton and crabs. Go pros were welcomed and videos can be uploaded to the website for the 200+ mantas that have been recorded Don’t think about it-just do it!

This is one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The manta rays name was Amanda, she’s about 10 feet wide and she did flips and scoops the whole time we were there. She even passed by close enough that she stroked me. It’s really is a peak experience. The crew was enthusiastic and really sweet.

Great experience and smooth operation from start to finish. The crew was knowledgeable, fun, full of energy and they were just as excited as if it was their first trip. Seen 3 rays on our visit.
