Overview

Paddle across Mendenhall Lake, navigating past icebergs, surrounded by Alaskan wildlife on an exceptionally stable, 28-foot, traditional Tlingit-style canoe, with all modern safety gear supplied. Venture within a safe distance of the awe-inspiring face of the Mendenhall Glacier and the beautiful Nugget Falls where you will hit the beach and refuel for the return paddle with an Alaskan-style snack. Due to the close approach to the glacier face, the Forest Service tightly controls the number of participants. Be one of the lucky few to experience this one-of-a-kind adventure!

Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
Children 13 to 17 must have a signed parental consent form to participate without a parent or guardian
Minimum weight: 40lbs
Maximum weight: approx 350lbs.
At time of booking, Cruise ship passengers must provide the following information at time of booking: ship name, docking time, disembarkation time and re-boarding time

Tour was fantastic. We canoed our way to the Mendenhall glacier and our guide, John, did a fantastic job telling us about the area, the fauna, the glacier itself, the fall and the effects of the flood from Last week, all the while padling with us and, no doubt, compensating for the uneven paddling from kids and teens on board. Great job from John. The only downside was the small quantity of snacks. We were in the back of the line and almost nothing was left for us to snack on. Not a huge problem but there is room for improvement there.

It was pouring down rain the day of our tour, so we were skeptical and less than enthusiastic at the start. So glad we went through with the tour. It was amazing!! The low hanging clouds, glacier and huge ice chunks in the water were so cool to see. The rain gear they provided kept us plenty warm. Such a great day and my kids loved it!! A big thank you to John our guide for all of the great info too!!

The weather was on our side for this amazing canoe trip on Lake Mendenhall. From the moment we arrived the fanatic staff of Jonah and Jake took us through everything before we got into the canoes. The scenery was spectacular and we loved every minute of this trip. I even forgot my coat and our great driver David, went back and got it. I would highly recommend this tour and a special shout out to Jonah who was our captain for the day.
