We called to make reservations the day before for 3:30 at Peaks Restaurant at the top of the tram. The next morning we bought our ticket to park, and my husband bought our tram ticket for 2:20, so we knew we would have to get back by about 1:45ish to park and catch a bus up to the tram station. What was cool was that we ended up in Parking Lot A, so it was just a short walk to get to the tram station, and we got there in plenty of time to catch our tram. Trams run every 10 minutes and can fit 80 people in each car. The floor of the tram moves in a slow, circular motion so that everyone can see all of the scenery. I get motion sickness very easily, and the tram ride didn't bother me at all. Our big mistake was in what we wore. It was about 90˚ at the bottom, so we wore shorts and t-shirts, plus we brought sweatshirts. We weren't dressed warmly enough to be outside at the top of the mountain. It's about a 30˚ drop in temperature and we would've been okay, except the wind was blowing really hard; it felt like it went right through our clothes. We should have worn pants. We still would've been cold, but not as cold. We made our reservation just fine and my husband went hiking around the area, but he was very cold the whole time. The ride down in the tram was fun! All in all, the tram is a fun trip and I suggest that anyone going to Palm Springs do it. It's one of those once-in-a-lifetime events that you should do at least once in your life. If you go to Palm Springs and you skip it, I think that would be a big mistake!
