Overview

Your 3 hour whale watching adventure begins when you board a coach bus that departs downtown Juneau from the Mt. Roberts Tram parking lot. A 25 minute journey through the picturesque landscape of Southeast Alaska will take you to Auke Bay Harbor. “All aboard!” and you’re off for Alaska waters and the ultimate whale watching experience. The star of the tour is the humpback whale, but we are always looking out for sea lions, bald eagles, or the playful orca. The whales are here to feed in our abundant Alaskan waters. Our naturalist guides you on a 2 hour whale watching tour. With our experienced captains and Juneau being one of the best ports for whale watching in Alaska, this tour will be an unforgettable experience. A light snack and refreshments will be provided.

Tour time is a check-in time; departure is within 15 to 30 minutes.
The meeting place is under the cables in front of the Mt. Roberts Tramway.
All ports or docks are within 10 minutes walking distances, except one - the A Dock - which provides a “Downtown” shuttle to the Mt. Roberts Tramway.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
At time of booking, cruise ship passengers must provide the name of their ship.
Tour operates in all weather conditions, so please dress appropriately in layers and for the likely chance of rain. It is recommended that you wear warm layered clothing, a waterproof jacket and comfortable slip-proof shoes.

When our helicopter/dog sled on glacier trip was cancelled due to wind, we decided to hop on a whale watching tour. Captain Kara, Brendan, and Chris were awesome. Very knowledgeable and gave lots of tips on how to spot whales.. Water was a bit rough that day but the ride was still awesome. Saw several whales including a mama and her calf. Very cool experience. Got so wrapped up in just watching that I only took a few pics.

Captain Dan and Danielle were great excursion hosts. On time pickup and return. All crew members were very knowledgeable about all aspects of finding and watching whales. Saw quite a few orcas and humpback whales on the tour. Highly recommend!

We booked through Viator, but Juneau Tours was our local tour operator. Great job guys! Our whale watching tour for two hours was fabulous. We saw a bunch of whales, eagles, and sea lions, not to mention some stunning scenery. The Mendenhall Glacier portion was more do it yourself, but we hiked to Nugget Waterfall which was gorgeous, with amazing views of the glacier. We even had a few icebergs float by on the lake. All kinds of trails and hiking in this area if you're able to handle it. The time length was based on how long you wanted to stay there. We did about 2 hours and took the shuttle back to town. Next was Tracy's King Crab Shack...wow! Some of the best crab I've ever had (and that's a lot of crab). The crab bisque and crab cakes were also amazing. This is done on your own with a coupon for the meal so you can go at your leisure. Check out their t-shirt area when done. Highly recommend this tour!
