Premier Juneau Whale Watching Expedition

Overview
Your 3 hour whale watching adventure begins when you board a coach bus that departs downtown Juneau from the Mt. Roberts Tram parking lot. A 25 minute journey through the picturesque landscape of Southeast Alaska will take you to Auke Bay Harbor. “All aboard!” and you’re off for Alaska waters and the ultimate whale watching experience. The star of the tour is the humpback whale, but we are always looking out for sea lions, bald eagles, or the playful orca. The whales are here to feed in our abundant Alaskan waters.  Our naturalist guides you on a 2 hour whale watching tour. With our experienced captains and Juneau being one of the best ports for whale watching in Alaska, this tour will be an unforgettable experience. A light snack and refreshments will be provided.

We booked this tour on the morning of our arrival in Juneau on the pier just in front of Taku. From our first interaction with the salesman to the last at return drop off this company was amazing! Very organized, friendly, interesting and fun! Bus drivers were very knowledgeable and transportation was included from the port to the boat. Once on the boat, we were greeted by Captain Mac and his awesome staff, Shay and Nate! Nate provided a ton of information on the way to the whale watching area! Once we saw the first spout, Captain Mac slowed the boat and we were all allowed to begin viewing! I could not believe the number of spouts and whales all around the boat! We were able to see many whale tails and even a few breaches. The staff and Captain Mac were pointing out spots and answered all of our questions! At the conclusion of the whale watching, Captain Mac took the boat to see the local sea lions hanging out on the bouts, then back to the dock! This family owned and run operation is totally local and does not contract with the ships! This helps keep their prices down! I HIGHLY recommend this crew and company! We will be booking with them again on our next visit! Money well spent!

The captain of the boat did a very good job of locating the whales and the second gentlemen did a great job explaining the life cycle of the whales and when they come to Alaska and how long the feed while in Alaska.

Had an amazing time with Captain Brenden, Nate, and Zoey. Couldn’t have asked for better weather and calm waters. Saw groups of whales and sea lions at the first spot. Then the Captain got word of a mother and her calf a bit further away and we were treated to an incredible show of watching the calf breach over and over for 15-20 minutes. The crew was great and the tour was easy to set up through Viator. Priced much less than booking on our cruise ship but had every bit of whale watching experience we hoped for. Would highly recommend!
