The Wing Ride: The Hidden History of Chicken Wings Food Tour

Overview
Earn your wings on this fresh Buffalo food tour with samples of Buffalo's tastiest chicken wings. On this incredible journey, we’ll dive deep into the history of Buffalo’s most famous and misunderstood dish and attempt to answer the question, “Who was the true inventor of the first Buffalo Wing?”.

The tour begins with a visit with Lina Brown Young, daughter Buffalo’s original King Of Wings, who shares personal photos, stories, and her dad’s long-lost mumbo wing recipe, which had been unavailable for 23 years.

We’ll continue with a stop at the Anchor Bar, where we’ll learn the wild story of how their wings were born by accident and sample their classic Buffalo Wing. The tour concludes with a visit to Tiny Thai, an up-and-coming food truck, where we’ll sample a legendary recipe that connects the past, present, and future of chicken wings.

Experience the tour that’s been featured by the Food Network, NY Times, and Vice Media, and learn how an American food icon came to be.

The tour guide really knew her stuff and made this a safe, informative, fun tour with a little bit of whimsy and a lot of good wings. My husband got a flat just prior to the first stop and the guide had the tools and knowledge needed to fix it, if only we had brought a spare inner tube. I have 2 suggestions: maybe provide tour participants with a bib or vest of some kind, identifying them as part of a tour, so that vehicular traffic might get the hint to let us stay together at corners; and have participants take down the guide's phone number at the beginning of the tour just in case someone gets left behind. (This happened on our tour; one rider needed a different bike because the original threw a chain. He was almost left behind.)

Thanks for joining us, Tamara! We cannot do maintenance on bikes people bring on the rides, only on our own fleet. But I'm very glad Chris could help you out. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts about safety vests and phone numbers...we'll consider it, along with other strategies. Glad you had a great time and hope to see you again :)

We booked the Buffalo Bike Tours Wing Tour for a group of Whitesville Central School Seniors as part of their Senior Trip Day Trip. From my first contact getting information about booking until the end of our tour Marc was a pleasure to work with. User Friendly, helpful in every respect - he helped us to craft a wonderful experience for our students. One of our students had never ridden a bike and Matthew (the tour guide in training) took this student under his wing and not only made him feel comfortable but also relieved any and all stress for all of us. Along our ride we had stops where Marc shared interesting history of the area - what was, is and will be for these parts of Buffalo. Our wing tastings were delicious and also included history tidbits of the origin of wings. We were serenaded with original tunes that included audience participation!! There was lots of laughter and many memories for a lifetime were made. I highly recommend you book a tour and have an experience that is truly outside of the box and fabulous!!

The first stop on the wing tour was a very interesting story I wasn’t aware of. I loved how Marc weaved the history of the chicken wing together.
