Amelia Island is full of rich history, and is the only location in America to have flown 8 independent flags. It’s rich history takes us on a journey through time including the Timucuan Indians who were our first inhabitants as far back as 2000 BC. The flags tell the story of religious struggle and persecution, the effect of Christianity disallowing any other God to be worshiped. The devastating impact of the Revolutionary war on the island and rebels acting in the name of higher power. Smugglers, slave traders and pirates have all had a part to play in the evolution of this Islands growth. This fascinating tour will take you on a journey through time and show you how such a small barrier island has had a major and little know impact on the history of America. What To Expect

Amelia Island

The eight flags tour takes you on a historical journey through all of the locations that those flags have flown over the islands incredible history. The only location in America to have had this number of independent flags. You will travel through the historic downtown district and out to the original Fernandina. On our journey we will cover each of the flags, the period from which they flew and the historical significance behind all of those dates from a historical perspective.

My husband and I were recently able to have a 2 hour+ tour of Amelia Island with the most spectacular tour guide, Daniel Daly, Operations Manager of Historic Tours of Amelia Island. We were scheduled to take a cruise the following morning and he met us the afternoon before at our hotel, near his tour office. He was knowledgeable, personal, professional, and witty! He knows so much about the area and we did the tour in the rain - he provided a light beverage to us as well. The following morning he even came by to get us and our luggage to make sure we got to our cruise ship successfully. What a guy!! Can't say enough great things about Daniel and this tour business - a totally lovely experience!

Daniel Daly was an absolute pleasure. He was interesting, witty and humorous. He told the story as if he had personally known these people. We couldn't believe the tour had ended because time flew by listening to his great stories.
