Eight Flags Road Tour

Overview
Amelia Island is full of rich history, and is the only location in America to have flown 8 independent flags. It’s rich history takes us on a journey through time including the Timucuan Indians who were our first inhabitants as far back as 2000 BC. The flags tell the story of religious struggle and persecution, the effect of Christianity disallowing any other God to be worshiped. The devastating impact of the Revolutionary war on the island and rebels acting in the name of higher power. Smugglers, slave traders and pirates have all had a part to play in the evolution of this Islands growth. This fascinating tour will take you on a journey through time and show you how such a small barrier island has had a major and little know impact on the history of America. Come and join us on a incredible passage through hundreds of years of incredible historical facts.

Your 5 Star review is really appreciated. This Island is truly amazing and it’s history is unlike any other place. From Native Timucuan Indians and being the only place to have flown 8 independent flags over it’s 450 years plus evolution. A great opportunity for us to show you want you want to find out and take away an experience of a lifetime.

Daniel was enthusiastic, knowledgable guide. Sites are mediocre but local stories/ characters are colorful Tour route/ content should be more chronologically presented to improve historical understanding. 90 minute duration = My wife and daughter lost interest last 15-30 minutes.

Thank you for your very constructive review. The history of the Island is incredibly extensive and we try to tell the story as it evolved. Many of the original structures have disappeared over the years leaving the tales and legends of our colorful characters, which you seemed to have enjoyed. The tour is in chronological order (but as is often the case) we will mention landmarks we pass, that might have been part of varying points of the same characters footprint, as we pass through our Islands history. Hope to see you again on your next visit?
