I booked a tour with Liberty Helicopter tours for a Monday morning slot to surprise my partner. I had a missed call whilst in New York, and when I returned the call I was told my pre-booked slot had to be rescheduled as President Trump was using the air space. Fair enough. My slot was rescheduled to later in the day. Before attending I checked what acceptable documentation was required to fly on the confirmation Id been given and this was either a driving license or passport. When we attended the flight my partner brought a passport and I brought a driving licence.This is where the nightmare began. I was told that due to heightened security I now couldn’t use the driving licence as ID. Despite this being listed as acceptable. The staff dealt with this situation REALLY badly, with rudeness and a lack of care and I felt really let down.I was told a number of times that it was impossible to fly and that I would lose my money as I hadn’t paid attention to flyinign instructions - despite me showing then the confirmation email with the information I’d been given. They also told me that someone had called me to tell me of the acceptable ID change. Nobody had done this - which I told them. Then after what I though was my final plea to be able to fly someone decided that it was absolutely fine to use my driving license and I could fly. The employees then seemed very p’d off with the fact that I had been allowed to fly - as it transpired they had refused other patrons that day for finding themselves in the same situation (more appalling organisation). After all this I was so stressed and upset that I didn’t enjoy the tour at all. The customer service and means of communication by the employees was appalling and I would not recommend Liberty Helicopter tours in ANY instance. A TERRIBLE experience.
