Private Whitney Plantation, Museum of Slavery, and St Joseph Plantation Tour

Overview
This is a small narrated private tour by van, for groups of up to 12 travelers. At Whitney Plantation's Louisiana Museum of Slavery, see the harsh realities and raw historical facts of a dark side of American history. The slave narratives and artwork recreate the world of a pre-Civil War southern sugar plantation and memorial in honor of the lives of the enslaved people who toiled there. A short ride through sugar cane fields leads to St. Joseph Plantation, a Creole style family-owned working sugar cane plantation. Family members give a relaxed, intimate tour of their ancestral home and dependencies (including original slave cabins).

Every time we come to New Orleans, our family will be sure to only use Tours by Isabelle. We initially booked the plantation tour with the buffet lunch, however we were not able to go because there wasn't enough reservations for that particular day. Isabelle contacted me right away and stayed in constant communication via text and phone for additional options to either reschedule for a different tour (the one we wanted was on the day we were scheduled to leave) or to receive a full refund. Although we were looking forward to having a buffet style lunch, we settled on the Whitney and St. Joseph plantation tour. However, this choice was a long shot from settling! Our tour guide John Hall was so informative and knowledgeable about the rich history of the Creole, Cajun and African America history in Louisiana. Both plantations were breathtaking to say the least. The Whitney Plantation I believe is a must for every American, regardless the background, to visit. There was so much information to take in about the history of slavery in this country and how the enslaved lived. Walking through the Plantation was a unique experience that can only be understood after experiencing it! Yes, New Orleans is probably the best city you can go to to party, but don't leave without taking a piece of American history with you.

We were absolutely delighted with our tour guide, Rene. He was so friendly and made sure we had an amazing time. He gave us a lot of interesting historical information on the ride out, a little background on himself & a lot of fun facts about New Orleans. After we finished the tours, he was there to take pics and answer any questions. On the way back, he gave us so many food, drink & activity recommendations. We knew that we were going to be with him the next day for another tour & we were really looking forward to it. We ended up going to dinner at one of his recommendations & we loved it. Thank you Rene!
